Orkut today added that much awaited app installing facility of Facebook. I'am glad that they did that, specially for India where most of the people use orkut and believe me it'll be relief to all those ppl who were missing these apps on orkut.
For folks in India it's quite difficult to accept so complex nature of Facebook. Orkut is much much simpler and moreover you'll find almost all of your friends there on orkut too. Hats off to Google!. For more details about this much awaited feature and for the developer community check this out

How to test website with Google Adsense

Recently I was updating my website with adsense. Since Adsense expects that you should not increase the page impression on your website yourself, it was really getting difficult for me to test my webpage generating page impressions on single refresh. I just came to know from Google that there's an easy way out for testing your website. The following two simple approaches can be followed to cease the impressions on your website.

1. Just on your adsense code ad a separate line google_adtest = "on"; and you are done!!

2. Other way could be instead of adsense code you put the iframes of the size exactly same as your adsense ad and check your website then.

But the method 1 is quite simple enough to avoid generating fraudulent page impressions and most recommended way.

Excel 2007 patch for calculation issue released

Finally after two weeks Microsoft has released the patch for the calculation bug in Excel 2007  which was initially reported at one of the Google groups website. More details on the issue can be seen on the Excel Team Blog here.

They are going to include this patch in Office 2007 service pack 1 and in Microsoft Update site too. Though I wonder why the size of the update is 32.5 MB which updates the version of the Excel.exe file and some other Office 2007 files too.

Download old versions of a software

Ever got frustrated on the new version of the software you just installed. Well, most of the websites don't show you their earlier version of the software. This is ridiculous. I know that they have Beta version to check out the cool new features but what if I want to be simple enough to use those old features.

If you do care for the old versions then there's nothing to worry about. Oldapps is a great resource for getting those old versions. It promises to have close to 3000 versions of around 200 popular softwares and if you think you have any such old version then also you can contribute providing it to them.

Enable NTFS in your Flash Drive in Windows

Microsoft Windows default settings doesn't allow you to format your Thumb drive in NTFS. You can only see one option of FAT32 while formatting the drive. So you don't have those cool NTFS file management features and security. Though it sounds good but actually NTFS wasn't designed for the Flash drives or any other removable media.

Now how to enable NTFS in your USB Drive ?

Right click on your Drive which is detected by Windows in My Computer and select Properties.

Then click on your USB drive name and click the Properties button below. Select Policies tab on the new Window and do OK.

Now you can see the NTFS option on your drop down when you format it

Please NOTE that since you've deselected the option for quick removal it may happen that you lose your data if you remove your drive quickly after writing anything to it.
